Wondering what to do this Saturday evening? Why not treat yourself, bae and friends to a local movie, dinner and snacks at the Soweto Drive-in. What better way to support local talent all while adhering to all the Covid-19 protocol.
Here’s what you need to know about this event
Outdoor Movie Nights ZA was founded and is managed by two Soweto born friends, chef, Siyabonga Ngwenya and film maker Keoagile Makote. This will be the second drive-in that they are hosting after a successful private movie screening that they organised and hosted in 2019. The two organisers have also partnered with the NVFV.

Saturday, 28 November
Where will it be?
The Cricket Oval, Rockville, Soweto
What time will it start
There will be two sessions that people can attend. Both sessions will be 2 hours long.
The first session will be from 18:30- 20:30 pm
The second session will follow from 21:00- 23:00pm
Ticket holders are encouraged to arrive at least 30 minutes before each session starts.
Which films will be screened on the night?
The audience can anticipate one of two locally produced films,
Sue The Winter To My Skin and Letters of Hope.
How much do tickets cost?
A ticket package for 1 will cost R150 and will include a meal of your choice, popcorn and a soft drink.
Due to Covid-19 regulations, only 3 people will be allowed per vehicle.
Will there be security?
The JMPD, SAPS as well as a local community police forum will be visible to ensure the safety and security of the attendants.
Will there be another one?
The organisers are planning to host another drive-in in December and ultimately turn the event into a monthly feature.
