The Soweto Equestrian Centre
The Soweto Equestrian Centre is a sports centre in Moroka, Soweto, founded by Enos Mafokate, the first black South African show jumping champion. In 2006, the Soweto Equestrian Centre opened its doors with the aim to give disadvantaged children in the community the opportunity to participate in as well as compete in elite horse riding events that include vaulting and show jumping.
The centre now offers lessons to all from as little as R350 per month. The fee structure for children and adults is as follows;
Horse riding and Vaulting Lessons
Adults: R1000 per month – 1 lesson per week
Children: R350 per month- 1 lesson per week
Social Rides
Adult: R200
Children: R80
Groups of 5 or more qualify for a 10% discount.
Adults: R1000 per month – 1 lesson per week
